I plan during the day and sometimes cut out. At night I sew - sometimes well into the morning hours. I feel guilty for this but why? The day is mine to divide up and use exactly how I want to!
I have a little princess living with me (my dog Charlotte) who gets a very confused when I don't sit by the fire and watch television with her. She loves watching those renovation shows with me but hates it when I move around from sewing room to dining room. This is because my overlocker/serger does not have a proper table or space in the sewing room (which doubles as a guest room). One day soon I will get that organised so that I don't have a house full of fabric and patterns, pins on the floor and trails of thread down the hallway!
See how much she loves sharing down time with her 'niece' - on the bed!
I was an intermittent sewist from the age of about 8, hand sewing and designing (with my mum's help) clothes for my Cindy doll (a long time ago)!! Who can even remember them now? Then a couple of skirts during my 20s and some toddler dresses came later. Then a huge break until a couple of years ago. Now it's hard to stop.
Most of what I wear is made by me - okay I don't do zips or linings (yet) but one day possibly! At least I can make clothes to fit me and I do! My new Scout tee is in an Art gallery fabric I have been saving for at least a year. The pattern had to be widened slightly at the hip and I decided to go with longer sleeves. I love the feel and the fit. My other scout tees still fit but I wanted one a bit longer and wider (due to a few extra pounds and feeling like a change). So without changing the top I graded it down from under the bust to a larger size (which was bigger than the biggest size). So now the top goes from 14 to 20 but feels so comfortable, loose and flowy. Just what I wanted!
This Grainline scout tee is worn with my Style Arc Barbs (size 16) made up in a ponte material from Knit Wit. It's a cold winter's day so my hand knitted (by me - first one in about 25 years) jumper will be going on over the top.
